Muyaku Ijutsu Shiatsu Ryohō

This classic work on Shiatsu therapy established a unified approach, integrating Eastern therapies with American spondylotherapy, osteopathy, and chiropractic.

Because Shiatsu was considered simple and accessible to anyone, many people learned it informally, and there were few systematic instruction manuals available.

Originally published in 1930, this book remains one of the most comprehensive guides to Shiatsu. It details the characteristics and effects of various techniques, including finger pressure, compression, friction, tapping, and microvibration. Additionally, it explores the impact of Shiatsu on different areas of the body, such as the abdomen, chest, forehead, face, neck, cervical vertebrae, shoulders, arms, legs, and spine.

The book also provides fundamental principles and practical applications of various manipulation methods, including rib lifting, clavicle lifting, lower abdominal lifting, rib and thoracic expansion, scapula expansion, cervical and lumbar inversion, cervical and lower extremity extension, leg flexion and extension, leg resistance techniques, and lower extremity vibration techniques.

Furthermore, it offers guidance on treating specific conditions such as neuralgia, spinal cord strain, insomnia, and headaches, as well as disorders of the digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous systems.
